Sun Halo

Saw the most incredible halo around the sun today while working on field#1. It was like a giant rainbow, of course the sunglasses helped to see it better, but it was truly stunning, and yes it did rain the next day, thought that was for the moon though?

Kira-san the logger came over to drop 8 giant sugi trees that were a little too near the house. Hoping to get more sunshine and cut down on the yamabiru and stinkbugs, also to dry out the terminally soggy yard.

seed potatoes

Planted about 100 potato plants, yikes. This is how I plan on putting my children through college. No, not by selling potatoes, but by eating them. Also pu in 2 rows of corn. Broadcast vetch, clover and beans on the rear middle section. Will be planting more corn an veg every 2 weeks or so , so as to have a staggered harvest hopefully.

I have to say that potatoes must be the easiest thing to grow, especially for this Jersey boy. They're very low maintainence, high yield, high calorie and very filling. At least the luck has been good so far.

field #1

Tilled field #1 4/6 and4/7 3hrs each day. Raised 14 beds, no plastic mulch this year. The 2 lemon trees died in the back, but the mikan, fig, and kaki are OK!
